Best Of Contour Palettes | #AW14Trends

Contour Palettes: Benefit Hoola Bronzer, Kiko Golden Game Sculpting Bronzer, Sleek MakeUp Face Form - Aspiring Londoner

Welcome to AW14 Trend Week!  One of the key trends that graced the AW14 runways were lightly contoured yet defined facial features (created for Valentino, source: Vogue).  Whilst we don’t have the likes of Pat McGrath to hand to create the look, we can recreate the looks using products available in the beauty aisles.

First up, Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder, £23.50.  This is one of my all-time fa
vourite bronzers (full review here).  This is the first bronzer I came across that didn't have any hint of orange in it.  It is buildable allowing you to create a light contour or even a very defined Kim K style contoured look if you wish!  You can also use it to just warm up your complexion.  I adore this bronzer for the pigment, quality and the fact that it suits all skin tones!

Next up, Kiko Make-Up Milano Golden Game Sculpting Bronzer*, £15.90.  The prize for the most beautifully designed makeup product goes to Kiko.  From the packaging to the embossing, everything about it is just beautiful!  It actually pained me to use this, but once I did, it didn't disappoint.  It comes in two shades – 01 Radiant Honey and 02 Precious Sienna.  I have Precious Sienna which is the darker shade suited to medium/olive skin tones.  The pan has 2 compartments, one with the highlighter and a bigger compartment with 2 shades of bronzer.  You can contour and highlight from the same palette and the two shades of bronzer means you can vary the intensity of colour.  This is warmer than Hoola but not orange!  Like Hoola, the bronzer has a matte finish.  The highlighter does have shimmer but it’s really fine and looks quite natural.  I’d say this is great for warming up your complexion and light contouring.

Lastly, Sleek MakeUp Face Form*, £9.99.  This is a dream palette for contouring lovers as it includes a contour powder, a highlighter and a blusher.  The palette comes in three shades – fair, medium and dark so it has something for everyone!  The highlighter and bronzer does contain shimmer so if you don’t like shimmery bronzers, this may be an issue.  However the contour powder is matte and another one without an orange undertone.  All the elements in the palette are highly pigmented and the powders blend really well.  But you have to be careful if you are heavy handed.  If you are a dedicated Kim K style contour fan (i.e. very defines) then this is for you!

Contouring may seem daunting but with the amount YouTube videos popping up from amazing makeup artists, we can all achieve near perfect chiselled cheekbones.  So give this a trend a go!

Are you a contour novice like me or a pro?  What’s your favourite contour product?  Have you tried any of the amazing bronzers mentioned?  Share in the comments below or tweet me @aspiring_london!
