Although I started my lipstick journey with MAC, I’ve since then experimented with a lot of brands. My experiments lead me to the conclusion, you don’t always get what you pay for. Drugstore lipsticks are more and more getting the formula right. Granted ‘high-end’ lipsticks have the packaging ‘ooh’ factor but drugstore brands aren’t far behind in that either. GOSH have got it pretty right with their Velvet Touch Lipstick range.
GOSH Cosmetics Velvet Touch Lipsticks*, £6.49 have one of the sleekest packaging on the high street. It’s quite reminiscent of MAC in its matte black packaging. The product inside the tube doesn’t disappoint either. This range isn’t a new range but GOSH has added eight new shades this winter. The shades are Adorable, Temptation, Devine, Scarlet, Diva, Night Kiss, Twilight and Angel. Swatches of Temptation* and Diva* can be seen below. The formula is moisturising and creamy enough not to cling to dry skin and applies evenly. The finish isn’t matte but more satin. Despite it’s creamy formula, they last really well throughout the day. I had to reapply a couple of times just to maintain the intensity of the colour, but even if I hadn’t, it would’ve stayed on well as a stain.

The pigmentation is high and even with one swipe there is great colour payoff. They are buildable as you can keep applying for higher intensity, and it won’t get patchy at all. I prefer Diva as it’s much more A/W appropriate. It’s an oxblood red sort of colour, which is my new favourite type of red! Temptation is quite a bright pink, and I’d probably wear it more around S/S.
GOSH has thoroughly impressed me with their A/W releases. These lipsticks in particular did have me wondering why I don’t have more lipsticks from them. They have an excellent shade range to cater for most skin tones and the formula are high quality.
