I believe that prevention is better than cure. This mind set means that I am willing to spend much more on skincare than makeup. Skincare is something that I feel quite strongly about and am always reading up on ingredients to ensure I’m using the right kind of products for my skin.
Being in my 20’s, I’ve started to think about anti-ageing and the hydration levels of my skin. I am one of those annoying people who really like to drink water and drink about 3 litres a day! However I do feel that the outer layers of our skin still needs hydration from products (these are my own thoughts by the way). As a result, I’ve started to use richer products in my night time skincare and during weekends when I’m staying in. Previously whenever I’ve tried rich moisturisers, I’ve broken out so I wanted to ensure this would not be an issue.
I’ve been trying out the Jurlique Nutri-Define Multi-Correcting Day Cream (50ml)*, £72 as my introduction to rich moisturisers. The cream promises to reduce visible signs of ageing, effects of environmental aggression and fatigue. It contains an unique ingredient Biosome5 which delivers five potent active ingredients including rosemary, horseradish, mulberry, peppermint and glycogen. These are supposed to penetrate the skins’ layers for visible results. The ingredients also include an antioxidant; rapeseed oil and Squalane oil which prevents water loss from the surface of the skin sue to its deep moisture retention properties.
It has the most luxurious packaging with a heavy jar and a spatula to scoop the product out of the jar. I love this, as you know I find jars unhygienic as you have to stick your hands in the jar every time transferring bacteria. The texture is rich and thicker than I’m used to. I use the spatula to take a pearl sized amount out and warm the cream between my fingertips. I then gently apply to my skin with upward motion over my face and neck. I used to use a thicker moisturiser for my neck area, I no longer need to do that.
At first use, what I liked was that despite the thicker consistency, the moisturiser sinks in quite quickly. My skin almost instantly feels firm. After continued use, I did notice my skin looking brighter and I felt that it hydrated my skin better as throughout the day my skin appeared less oily (i.e. produced less oil as it was well hydrated). I really enjoyed using this moisturiser and it felt like a real treat to my skin. As I only need to use a small amount, even after a few weeks, I have over half the jar left so value for money is great. I don’t particularly love the fragrance, but it’s not strong and doesn’t linger.
This would be the ultimate luxury gift for a skincare lover, particularly someone who has started to think about products that’ll have long-term benefits. I’m really please and might even repurchase considering how long it’s lasting me! This was a lovely introduction to the brand as I’ve never tried Jurlique before and I definitely want to try more from them.
