The Perfect Winter Lip Duo | Kiko Lip Pencil & Clinique Chubby Stick

Kiko Smart Lip Pencin in 710 Rouge Noir Review - Aspiring Londoner

There are a lot of Autumn/Winter appropriate lipsticks in the market at the moment; but I sometimes feel like all the shades seem similar or you go to an event and everyone is wearing Rimmel Kate Moss 107!  So I wanted to try something new, something a little different.

When I was in London a few weeks ago, I picked up Kiko’s Smart Lip Pencil in 710 Rouge Noir.  I knew I’d like this in the A/W season.  I initially wanted to wear the lip liner on its own as I really liked the colour.  I started by applying it all over my lips, but found that it was incredibly drying!  It clung to every bit of dry skin!  Although the pigmentation is incredible and the formula makes it long-lasting, but it’s definitely not wearable on its own.

So I had a eureka moment and applied my favourite Clinique Chubby Stick in Voluptuous Violet on top and my problem was solved!  As the chubby stick only applies a sheer wash of colour, it didn’t interfere with the colour of the lip liner but added moisture to the lips making the lip liner wearable.  The top swatch is of the Kiko Smart Lip Pencil alone and the bottom swatch is with the Clinique Chubby Stick layered on top!  The Clinique Chubby Stick in Voluptuous Violet is one of my favourite lip products, unfortunately due to my pigmented lips the colour doesn’t show up as much.  Adding this with the Kiko lip pencil has been the perfect duo for me this winter as the colour is something different and the lasting power is just out of this world!
