Christmas Gift Guide | For Him

I’ve been terrible at getting gift guides up this year!  Work has been manic, life has been bumpy, I am ill and the gift guides have suffered.  This one is for the men in your life.  I find it difficult to buy for men.  Although they’re not fussy, there just aren’t a lot of variety in terms of what you can get them.  So keep reading for my selection for Men's Christmas Gift Guide.

Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Limited Edition Eyeshadow Palette Review+Swatch

Urban Decay has been the brand of the year for me.  Obviously it’s a cult brand but I hadn’t tried much from them until 2015 (yes, really!)  and just fell head over heels in love!  Everything I’ve tried from them has just blown me away.  Khila (Miss Budget Beauty) always mentions how she benchmarks all other eyeshadows against UD ones as they’re just the best quality out there; this always made me want to try out UD eyeshadows.  I did manage to get my hands in the UD Naked Smoky palette - I will review this with a GRWM hopefully.  But I have something even better for you today!  Yes, the much awaited Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Limited Edition Eyeshadow Palette (£40)!

5 Under £5 #2

I have to say, I struggled with this one.  It’s getting harder and harder to find good products that are under a fiver in the high street!  Everything is so pricey!  L’Oreal mascaras are like £12?! I digress, but you know what I mean.  Although high street makeup’s getting better, the prices are getting higher and higher.  I have found some great little bits though that I absolutely love and adore.

Eyeshadow sticks are my favourites at the moment.  It really does make life so much easier to swipe shadows on your lids with a crayon and just blend.  Genius!  I’d stopped wearing eyeshadows regularly as it felt like such effort – but I’m back in love with it and here is a roundup of my favourites!

5 Ways To Stay Positive

I find it the hardest to stay positive in the winter months.  It’s dark outside when I go to work, and when I finish work – it’s hard to feel uplifted and motivated when even the weather isn’t in the mood!  I’ve been feeling more and more tired and lethargic, it all adds up to that feeling of ‘can’t be bothered’ and fuel a negative mindset.  I’ve in turn found it difficult to even blog, I just couldn’t bring myself round to doing anything creative/productive.  So decided to turn it around as otherwise, it’d be a long and miserable winter.  I’ve been trying various things to keep myself in a positive mind set and continue to remain positive every day.  I thought I’d share some of my tips which might help you.

One of the perils of being an iPhone user is that you can never be without a case.  Literally the minute you take your phone case off, is the minute you will inevitabley drop your phone and crack the screen...yes it has happened to me, yes it is a pain in the neck and heck yes, it's expensive to fix!  I digress, but my point is that you need phone cases.

Body Creams For Dry Skin This Autumn/Winter

The cold always gets me by surprise.  Somehow I always seem to forget exactly how cold autumn/winter gets every year.  And with that comes the dry skin.  For someone who has as oily facial skin as I, my skin everywhere else is really quite dry.  So I’ve been getting into moisturising routinely to avoid scaly skin.  There are a few body moisturisers that are helping me right now; from luxury Sunday pamper ones to daily on the go ones.

The Body Shop Spa of the World Hawaiian Kukui Cream Review - Aspiring Londoner

The best body butter I’ve ever tried.  Just no comparison with anything at all.  It’s seriously creamy and smells divine!  The texture is not too heavy but really works to moisturise even the driest skin on my body.  The scent can’t be described, you need to smell it to truly appreciate how beautiful it is!  It lingers for the longest time without overpowering and I just love waking up in the morning and smelling amazing.

This is the stuff you whip out in the colder months, when you want to feel pampered and special – the Sunday stuff!  The packaging is seriously luxe and really fits the price point, although £23 for a body butter makes me want to cry a little, but I will be repurchasing this without a shadow of doubt!
Neutrogena Visibly Renew Body Lotion Review - Aspiring Londoner

From the super pricey to the super affordable, I’ve never tried Neutrogena body products before.  It’s rather nice on the go as it absorbs fast yet is nourishing enough for the declining temperature.  The pump bottle is handy and makes daily moisturising less of a chore.  I keep it on my bedside table so I can moisturise and get into bed straightaway without having to wait.  It also claims to boost collagen production, although I have no idea if it actually does, but my skin does feel supple when I use it.  It has a subtle scent, and a light formula.  A great, affordable body lotion to keep handy this winter.
Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion Review - Aspiring Londoner

A godsend for sensitive and uber dry skin!  I’ve used it all through summer to nurse my sunburns back to normal, and even now in the cold it’s just as effective.  It’s not fragranced, it’s light but has that emollient formula that absorbs fast and works to heal irritated skin.  It works without aggravating your skin concerns and almost acts like a barrier so nothing else can exacerbate the already irritated skin.  It’s suitable for all skin types and is a must have for anyone who suffers from dry skin!

L’Oreal Paris La Vie En Rose Lipstick Review + Swatches

L’Oreal has always been the drugstore brand for me.  I’ve always gravitated towards their products first, before trying any other brands.  L’Oreal’s True Match foundation is the only drugstore foundation that gave me a good colour match, which spurred me on to try more base products from the drugstore.  Funnily enough, I’ve never tried much from their lip range.  Except for the new Infallible Lip Gloss range (swatches here); I haven’t tried their actual lipsticks.  So I was really keen when L'Oreal La Vie en Rose collection exclusive was released.

I haven’t done a favourites post for quite some time.  The reason being they were a tad boring to write as I felt obliged to write them.  Recently I was watching Khila’s (Miss Budget Beauty) videos where she voiced the same feeling.  So inspired by her, I bring you my latest series ‘Currently Loving’!  It’s not going to be weekly/monthly, but just as and when I really want to talk about a few products.  In today’s post there is a great mixture of old and new favourites that I’m obsessed with right now!

Antipodes Organic Skincare Review #OrganicBeauty

14th - 20th September marks organic beauty week.  I must say I’m not fussed about natural/organic ingredients in my skincare and makeup.  Organic beauty is not something I actively look for.  Although I’m quite the ambassador for eating organic, for some reason I haven’t given organic beauty much thought.  It might seem strange, but mostly because as soon as I think of organic beauty products, I automatically think products that will have gloopy consistency and smell essentially like soil.  Yes, very ignorant of me.  My misconceptions were blown truly out of the water last year when I was introduced to Antipodes.

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation Review

Dewy foundation for oily skin is a rare thing.  It’s a rare thing for me at least!  I always find that ‘glowy’ foundations more often than not turn into oil slicks.  I have to constantly strategically powder my face to retain some glow without looking like an oily mess.  It’s almost not worth the hassle.  I’ve been trying out the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation the last few weeks.  I always manage my expectations so I’m not swayed by claims of the product.

New Release | Kiko Milano Rebel Romantic Collection Review

I fondly await Kiko's Limited Edition collections as they always exude creativity, for example the Daring Game Collection or Modern Tribes etc.  I was a massive fan of those collections solely because the theme, the packaging - everything was exciting!  The new Kiko 'Rebel Romantic' collection is themed around a muse who is feminine yet rebellious.  The rose gold packaging reflects the feminine side whilst the gunmetal grey reflects the rebel.  The packaging is good, but is a bit meh in comparison to all the amazing collections they've had previously.  You know I love Kiko, but the packaging just didn't wow me like before.

So What's Multi-Masking All About?

Beauty trends are overwhelming, there are many and some are just too odd (remember oil pulling?!).  Most tend to be makeup related, however a recent one that has caught my eye is multi-masking.  Now what's that about?  It's basically using multiple face masks together.  I've been seeing everyone and their dog talk about multi-masking and of course, I tried it out.

5 Simple Ways To Relax And #LetGo

Being a woman today means we're constantly under pressure.  Pressure from work, family, society, media and most importantly from ourselves to be better, the best.  We're constantly striving to achieve something or another, whether it be a successful career or a great mother.  What we forget in the midst of all the noise is that we need to make time for ourselves, to relax.  I'm certainly guilty of pushing myself to get more done, to achieve more and neglect myself in the process.  I feel guilty for not blogging more, for not cleaning more or being more successful - but am I going to care that I didn't blog consistently this month 10 years down the line?  Probably not.

Strobing On A Budget

Strobing is everywhere right now.  Know it or not we've all been strobing (to some effect) all along!  Strobing is basically contouring without the dark contour shades.  It emphasises the high points of your face and creates illusion that way rather than using darker shades to create shadows.  I've watched numerous people 'strobe' (can you use it as a verb? I'm gonna do it...!) using different techniques, and to be honest it looks hell of a lot easier than contouring!  I can contour but nothing as extreme as you see on those instagram videos!  So for me strobing is actually brought about some relief...something low maintainence (compared to contouring) and that actually exudes youthfulness.

I've been using the Real Techniques makeup brushes for a long time now.  They were the first budget brushes that I liked, and I think they set a benchmark.  Over the last year, a lot of other budget/drugstore brands have sat up and taken notice.  As a result, there has been a lot of makeup brush releases in the drugstore.  I've compiled five brushes from my collection that I use daily and frankly, you don't necessarily need a plethora of brushes if you have the right ones.
