Review | NARS All Day Luminous Powder Foundation

NARS All Day Luminous Powder Foundation Review - Aspiring Londoner

I’ve never really worn powder foundation.  I always felt that they just wouldn’t work on my skin and just make my skin look cakey.  I was quite intrigued to try this for that reason to actually find out once and for all if that was in fact the case!

NARS All Day Luminous Powder Foundation is lightweight and supposed to provide a luminous finish.  I was really intrigued as powders are known to provide quite a ‘flat’ finish to the skin so wanted to know if delivered!  It also has SPF 24, which is great for wearing during the day as you can perhaps lightly reapply to provide that SPF protection during the day.

Firstly, the packaging is great as it’s magnetic!  I love all this boxed powders and palettes coming in magnetic packaging now, my nails shall no longer be damaged trying to jimmy open a palette!!  There’s a good sized mirror inside, and below the foundation there’s another compartment that holds a sponge applicator.  I don’t apply the foundation with the sponge, instead I use the NARS Mie Kabuki Brush as I find it gives a flawless finish yet looks really natural.

The formula of the powder is super super fine.  Like wow!  Slight downside to that, it seems to ‘break’ easily, as you can see mine has come loose around the edges.  The super fine powder foundation applies undetectably all over your face.  You cannot see it at all.  Coverage wise I found it to be quite light, I felt like my skin needs to be in quite a good place for me to get away with just this.  For day to day use, I opt for applying the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer where I need it, allow it to set and then go in with the finish.  This way I can have a really great ‘good skin’ feeling without having to wear a heavy foundation.

One of the things I really loved was that how natural it looked through the day.  The powder formula helped to control the oil on my skin, yet didn’t make my skin look powdery.  I can see what they meant by the luminous finish!  It didn’t slide off my face at any stage.  As it’s a powder foundation, I was easily able to touch up later in the day when I felt the oil was starting to show through.  I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who needs the heavy coverage.  This is definitely for those who needs light to medium coverage (paired with concealer) and those who’re looking to even out their complexion from redness.  I’m looking forward to using this more in the warmer weather in Spring/Summer as I really struggle to keep my oily complexion at bay with foundation!
