Rimmel Provocalips 16HR Kissproof Lip Colour Review

Rimmel Provocalips 16hr Kissproof Lip Colour Review - Aspiring Londoner

Long-lasting lip products are something every makeup wearer is after.  Over the years, brands have tried to achieve the longest lasting lip products in many shapes and forms, yet few have succeeded in creating something that fulfilled all the criteria.  Some lasted but completely dried out our lips or some kept the lips in good conditions but failed to maintain the colour and finish.

When I saw Rimmel’s Provocalips 16HR Kissproof Lip Colour, £6.99 offering claiming to last 16 hours, I was amongst the cynic.  Been there done that, the t-shirt wasn’t worth it.  However, this has truly changed my mind.  The deal with the Rimmel Provocalips are that you step 1, you apply the colour end of the lip product and wait a minute, then step 2, apply the ‘top coat’ seal on top of your lip colour and this seals the colour in.  Initially the colour looks a little shiny but dries to a matte finish, and when the top coat is applied, it gives a subtle sheen without looking super glossy.  Overall, it gives a semi-matte finish look.

I applied this at 6:30 am before setting off for work, drank tea throughout the morning without leaving any mark on my mug.  Then lunchtime rolled around, by this time I thought surely the bread on my sandwich will wipe the colour off, but no, it stayed put completely perfectly!  It looked as good and fresh as it did in the morning when I first applied it.  I ran some errands after work, and got home about 7pm when I finally removed my makeup and to my complete disbelief the Rimmel Provocalips was as perfect as 6:30 am this morning!!  I was just blown away!  Now the removing stage was a little difficult, none if the micellar waters I had did much to remove the lip product, so I had to find something oil based.  Finally I was able to completely remove it with my Clinique Take The Day Off Make Up Remover for Lids, Lashes & Lips.  Only then was I able to remove every last trace of the Provocalips from my lips!

It passed the long lasting claim with flying colours.  There a couple of small things that bothered me a little, firstly the smell.  It has a strange smell that’s quite strong initially and I really didn’t like it.  Secondly, although it is comfortable to wear for long periods of times, it feels a little ‘plasticky’ on the lips.  It’s not drying, but just feels a little strange.  It might just be the fact that I’m not used to something staying put for this long on my lips, but just something to be aware of.  Other than that, amazing product for the value.

The pigmentation is incredibly, the colour is pretty much opaque in one swipe. There are eight shades to choose from ranging from neutral nudes to pinks, berries and reds.  Coming in at just under £7, you need them all to set you up for life!  ‘Make Your Move’ is my favourite shade as it’s so wearable on a daily basis.  If you’re going to an event that you need your makeup to last for, Rimmel Provocalips will not let you down!
