Best of Maybelline Makeup Review - Aspiring Londoner

Although Maybelline is a regular drugstore brand, but I feel like it doesn’t fall under my radar.  I decided this needs to change and visited Boots to have a proper look through the Maybelline stand.  Guess what?  I found a lot of gems!

I loved the Maybelline Rocket Mascara (full review here) when it launched; it’s still one of my favourite mascaras.  I’ve finished the mascara and no longer have it, otherwise it would’ve been included it in this post fo’ sho’.

Best of Maybelline Makeup Review - Aspiring Londoner

Maybelline’s Colour Tattoos (full review here) are possibly one of their most raved about products, and rightfully so.  I’ve used it time and time again and have been impressed every time.  I’ve had it well over a year and the formula is just as creamy, the longevity is brilliant and the pigmentation is excellent.  For a drugstore cream eye shadow, this is as good as it gets.  I love the shade ‘On and On Bronze’ as an eye shadow by itself or as a base for a more intense look.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow Downtown Brown Swatch, Kajal Liner Pitch Black Swatch - Aspiring Londoner

Maybelline brought out a pigment version of the Color Tattoos in the US, and I got my hands on the shade Downtown Brown.  I was very impressed with colour payoff and minimal drop out.  It does have good staying power but not as good as the cream formula, using a primer makes it perfect.  I love the Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments to intensify a smoky eye.  Unfortunately these are not available in the UK, but if you’re US bound make sure you grab these!

Maybelline Big Eyes Eyeshadow Luminous Brown Swatch - Aspiring Londoner

I’d say I’ve basically realised, I love Maybelline’s eye shadows no matter what the formula.  Maybelline Big Eyes Eyeshadow palettes are the perfect little palettes for a smoky eye.  The shade ‘Luminous Brown’ is perfect for an all encompassing smoky eye.  If you’re not one for spending big money on eyeshadows but still want great colour payoff – you need these.  The shades apply really smooth and blend amazingly.  The swatches are just one swipe so you can tell how good the formula and the colour payoff are.

Whilst we’re on the subject of eye makeup, you know my obsession with eye pencils, so you won’t be surprised when I rave about the Maybelline Master Kajal Liner.  I was intrigued by the packaging, and then when I tried it, I loved how soft and pigmented it was.  I like the fact that there isn’t a wooden edge of a pencil which can sometimes drag and hurt.  I don’t have to worry about that when I tight line or line my waterline.  It’s also handy if you want to use it as a smudgy eye shadow base.

One of my new discoveries was Maybelline Forever Strong Nail Polish.  I’m besotted with the shade Midnight Red.  What impressed me most was the high shine finish that lasted as long as the longevity of the polish.  Even without a base coat or a top coat, I had a five days wear of the polish without a sight of the tiniest chip!  Love!  I’m hoping to build up a collection of these.

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipstick Electric Orange 912 Swatch - Aspiring Londoner

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipsticks are one of the best lipsticks I’ve tried from the drugstore.  The swatch shows the creamy formula and the fantastic pigmentation.  I absolutely adore the shade Electric Orange in the Vivids range (full review here).  I think these are great from Spring/Summer time when you want to experiment with different colours without spending a fortune.

I’m really keen to try out the new Sensational Mascara.  I did want t o try their Dream Flawless Nude Foundation, however there wasn’t a good shade match for my skin, boo!
