I’ve never been sure of beauty subscription boxes. The reason being, I’m always sceptical that I’d get my money’s worth. Some subscription boxes seem to regurgitate the same or similar samples in a lot of boxes, and a lot of them seem to give out sample of shower gels etc. which doesn’t interest me a lot. The last few months’, I’ve been seeing a lot of love for the ‘My Little Box’ subscription box and I’ve been dying to try them out.
I’m definitely sucked in by the illustrations but what I love is that, every month the boxes are themed and this means less duplicate products. The packaging and illustrations are beautiful! The boxes usually contain a couple of beauty products from great brands and one from their own in-house beauty range, My Little Beauty; a fashion/lifestyle accessory, their magazine ‘My Little World’, some illustrated goodies by Kanako and some other ad hoc bits of goodies.
This month’s box was a ‘frenchie’ themed box inspired by Ines de La Fressange, a Chanel muse in the 80s and a business woman. She is a French icon and the epitome of the modern Parisian woman.
“Life is never what it seems – and that’s the great thing about it.”
– Ines de La Fressange
This is the quote on the illustrated card by Kanako this month. The beauty products from February’s box are: L’Oreal Brow Artiste Pencil, £5.49 for the perfectly groomed brow pencil for the modern woman. The brow pencil is dual ended, one end is the brow pencil and the other end is clear wax to set the brows. The second product is a By Terry Crayon Kohl Pencil, £23.50 – a beautifully creamy eyeliner pencil that you can use for multiple purpose. Make sure you read Friday’s post for a more detailed review. There was another product that oily skinned gals like me will be thankful for, it’s the DHC Blotting Paper, £4 pack that you can take anywhere and blot any excess oil through the day. The pack contains 100 sheets of 100% hemp made papers. I can’t wait to try these out! The last beauty product from My Little Beauty is Embellisseur Teint de Peche, £9.50, a peach based radiance booster that should give you the glow from within.
The lifestyle piece is a phone case/holder, that should hols most smart phones, iPods, and has space for credit card/money too! I’ve already put it to good use! Last but not least, my favourite item would have to be the little glass jar filled with mini scrolls. The concept is you open a scroll when you’re in need for motivation and find it!
For £11/month (+£3.95 p&p), to me the box is completely worth it. I’m definitely going ot be using the products, but more importantly, I’m dying to know already what next month’s theme will be! I’d recommend this as it has enough intrigue for me to want to subscribe, or even as a present for someone you love! You can subscribe to My Little Box directly on their website.
