Let’s talk about the foundation everyone has been talking about. Yep, you’ve guessed right, NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. I’ve only recently delved into NARS and so far I’ve loved everything I’ve tried. The NARS Sheer Glow foundation was so beautiful on my skin, that I had to try this when it surfaced.
Let’s start with the packaging, I love the frosted glass bottle and the squared shape, and it has a pump! Hallelujah! The pump makes life so much easier; it’s the little things in life guys. The foundation itself has a really liquid formula, you have to shake the bottle fist before using it, and you can really hear it.
Despite the liquid formula, the foundation gives very high coverage. I was really surprised as I didn’t think it’d live up to its claims. I don’t agree that one drop will give you full coverage (if that’s what you’re after) I did need a full pump for my face. Another thing I’d recommend is applying your foundation in sections. Otherwise the foundation seems to set really quickly and you can’t blend it out as well. The best way I’ve found is to dot each section and buff out. This way you get the flawless full coverage without any streakiness. You might be thinking streakiness? Sets to quickly? Bad signs! Let me stop you, it’s not. Because it sets well, it lasts, and I mean it lasts! I was shocked! It outdid my Bobbi Brown Long Wear and that was winning the base race for my oily skin.
The first time I wore the foundation, I used primer and the foundation lasted 10 hours before some shine seeping through; this was without touch ups, without powder. Yes, I know. The second time I wanted to see the foundation’s lasting power without primer. This time it was around 8 hours before I saw any shine. I’m thoroughly impressed, for me a foundation’s lasting power is one of the main things I’m after. With oily skin, it’s hard work to make your makeup last a day without having to powder. This has totally made that possible for me. No more trying to fit in powder and a decent brush in my handbag or even trying to find that powder at the bottom of my massive handbag! In spite of the foundation being so high coverage and long lasting, I couldn’t feel it on my skin. With other high coverage foundations, I’m usually very aware that I’m wearing a high coverage foundation. Yet this didn’t feel heavy or like it was sitting on my skin. For reference, I wear the shade ‘Syracuse’ for Sheer Glow and the Luminous Weightless in the summer and ‘Stromboli’ in winter. There are 20 shades to choose from and I think the shades run pretty close to the Sheer Glow.
Anyone who struggles with makeup sliding off their face halfway through the day, or just oil control in general, should definitely check out the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation.
