Neal's Yard Remedies Healing Foods Review - Aspiring Londoner

Neal’s Yard Remedies Healing Foods is quite possibly my most favourite book to date.  I picked it up last spring and have consistently used it since.

It lists over 175 ingredients/foods and looks at their beneficial properties and what they’re good for.  The book is divided in sections orchard fruits, tropical fruits, cereals and grains, pulses, meat etc.  Then there is a section where a full day’s meals are listed if you’re looking to focus on one part of your body, e.g. “A Day of Skin Health”.  I find these sections great as it explains which food are great for the skin and the more you use it, the more you’ll gravitate towards these types of food.  It’s almost like a ‘detox’ without putting our body through ridiculous rituals.

The last part of the book is filled with recipes, ‘Recipes That Heal’.  There are recipes for snacks, breakfast, main meals, juices and sweet treats!  They are fairly simple and don’t take long to whip up.  I also find that the beautifully photographed foods in the book inspire me create the recipes.

I have tried some of the recipes but what I love most is trying out the ingredients.  For example, last summer, my other half and I decided to eat more vegetables and picked out one new vegetable we hadn’t tried before from the book and added it to our meals.  It was a great way to try new healthy foods with the knowledge of exactly how it was beneficial to my body.  My ultimate testament would be, thanks to Healing Foods, I’m a regular eater of Aubergines!  Who knew!

If you want to eat more healthily and know exactly what you’re putting in your body, you NEED this book in your life!  I’m a big advocate for clean eating, and this book will take you that bit closer to living a healthier lifestyle.  I recommend this to anyone; it’s what I call my ‘health bible’!

Do you own the Healing Foods?  What’s your favourite healthy eating book?  Do share in the comments below or tweet me @aspiring_london! as I’m always after new reads!
