Crown Brush is one of my favourite brands for affordable brushes. They do some amazing brushes that I couldn’t do without. They’re now launching their own makeup line! I was really keen to give them a try!
The Crown Brush Makeup line will include chubby eye and lip pencils, eye and lip pencils, bronzer, blusher, gel liner, eye shadows, primers and mascara. The prices range from £2.99 to £11.99, which are really affordable. I’ve tried few of the products and wanted to share my first impressions with you.
Crown Brush Bronzer, £6.99 has a matte finish and will be perfect for contouring. I have the shade Fair, which is too light for me to use as bronzer, however I think I’ll use it as a blusher for those minimal makeup days. The neutral tones will add the slightest colour to my cheeks without looking like blush. The powder is really fine, and you need the slightest amount as the pigmentation is great. Lovely bronzer at the price point!
My favourite is the Lip Liner Pencil in Cappuccino, £2.99. It is slightly darker than my lips and creates a nice base for my nude lipsticks. I love pairing this with my favourite lipsticks of the moment, Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick in Treat. The formula ensures there’s no feathering from lipsticks yet is soft enough to glide on lips without dragging. There are six shades in the range, Cappuccino, Fuego, Milk Chocolate, Mojave Rock, Not Pink and Smoked Salmon.
The lip liner pencils can also be paired with the Chubby Lip Pencils, £3.99. These are close second favourite as the formula is really moisturising and has brilliant pigmentation. The colour is opaque in one swipe. They have a satin finish and lasting power is average, but being a chubby pencil you can easily reapply. These come in ten shades – Georgia Peach, Hawaiian Hula, Hollywood Dreams, Moroccan Bazaar, Nude Beach, Parisian Cafe, Rio, Shanghai Red, South Beach and Vegas Nights. I have Parisian Cafe which is a nude-mauvey-pink. I’m loving these type of colour at the minute! It goes well with the Cappuccino liner too.
The Eyeliner/Eyebrow pencils, £2.99 are impressive too as they come in a wide shade range. The formula is soft enough to glide on your lids without dragging yet firm enough to use on your eyebrows. The colour payoff is really intense; I love how deep the Dark Chocolate shade is. Lastly, the product I was least impressed with was the Chubby Eye Pencils, £3.99. The shade range is food and has a good mix of colours and neutrals. The formula is creamy and blends well; however the thing that disappointed me was how it transferred from my lid as I blinked. I have the shade Silver Bullet which is very shimmery and just transferred all over, didn’t really set. I’m not sure if this is the case with all the shades. I found it to be nicer to apply on the middle of my lids to make them ‘pop’ over other shadows. I didn’t love it on its own.
Overall I liked the different pieces enough to make me want to try more! I really want more of the Chubby Lip Pencils and the Lip Liners. I also spied a blush/bronzer/highlighter trio which looks stunning!
