3 High End Concealer Worth The Money

Buying concealers and foundations are one of those tasks I really dislike.  Why you ask?  It's because I almost never find the right shade for me and then despair trying to make it work for me somehow as I've spent so much on it.  Being a olive skin toned gal, I can almost never buy foundations from the drugstore/high street.  So the question is, in my years as a beauty blogger, have I found a something that works for me?  Yes, yes I have.  I will introduce you today to three of my favourite high end concealers from NARS, Smashbox and Urban Decay.

I've previously tried various MAC concealers that weren't quite right for my skin and felt so annoyed afterwards as they aren't the cheapest thing!  I've done the same thing with foundations too, but that's another story for another day.  Last year, was the year I decided I need to get myself a concealer that I was super happy with.

I had heard a lot about the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (£22), so that was my first stop.  a tip from me, whenever you go to a store to colour match your concealer, don't buy the same day.  Ask them to apply where you need it, then go out in daylight to see if the shade is still good for your skin, and wait until the end of day to see if it creases/oxidises etc.  I had to go back three times to get colour matched with the right shade, Selfridges NARS staff are not good at colour matching FYI, at least not the one I went to.  I found Space NK staff to be much more helpful and patient.  Finally I left with the shade Ginger and I haven't looked back!

The formula of this concealer is very light and this makes it easy to blend.  I tend to dot it where I need it with the wand and then blend with my fingers.  It blends in really well into my skin and is almost undetectable.  The colour match is perfection, this is perfect to conceal my acne scars and brighten slightly under my eyes.  I posted about my under eye brightening trick here.  Coverage wise, it's very buildable.  I apply a couple of layers on scars that need it and it doesn't look cakey at all.  I've repurchased this already and is definitely what I call my Holy Grail concealer (so far!)!

I love the Smashbox Liquid Halo Foundation and this made me want to try the Smashbox HD Liquid Concealer (£17.50).  As the name suggests, the consistency of this is really light.  As I blend with my fingers, it blends in to a skin like finish.  The tube packaging means you'd need to apply with your fingers or a brush.  I absolutely love this for brightening under my eyes.  I don't know what's in it, but it really helps to lift the shadows after the late nights (more Netflix binging than being out, I'm 'fraid!).  I wear the shade Medium, which is a good match for my skin.  Due to the light consistency, you do have to build up the coverage especially with acne scars.  It does have the coverage, just the liquid consistency means it takes that little bit longer to build up the correct coverage.

Newest citizen of my concealer city is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (£17.50).  I think my NARS concealer has competition!  The name is long but describes this concealer down to a tee!  It's very light, I mean all the others are too, but this is completely, well, weightless.  It has the same kind of coverage of the NARS concealer and the really nice iluminating properties of the Smashbox concealer but you cannot feel it on your skin.  I love the applicator, as it is flat and is slightly longer than the NARS one.  You feel the benefit when you apply concealer to larger areas of face i.e. under eyes, nose etc.  I have the shade Medium Dark Warm which is great for covering scars, but I wish I had gone for Medium Light Neutral, as that would've been better for doing both under eyes and scars.  That's what you get for guessing your shade online for concealer...!

I have a lot of for all three concealers and I do think I'd repurchase all three without any regrets.  If you're thinking of investing in a high end concealer, I highly recommend you check these out!
