I fondly await Kiko's Limited Edition collections as they always exude
creativity, for example the Daring Game Collection or Modern Tribes etc. I was a massive fan of those collections
solely because the theme, the packaging - everything was exciting! The new Kiko 'Rebel Romantic' collection is
themed around a muse who is feminine yet rebellious. The rose gold packaging reflects the feminine
side whilst the gunmetal grey reflects the rebel. The packaging is good, but is a bit meh in comparison to all the amazing
collections they've had previously. You
know I love Kiko, but the packaging just didn't wow me like before.
One of the items I tried out was the Kiko Contouring Duo Pencil Set (£9.90).
Basically there are two crayons, one for bronzing and one for
highlighting. I have the shades
Light/Medium. I quite like the bronzing
crayon as it has a creamy texture and can be built up and blended. However the highlighting crayon was
completely different. It didn't have
that creamy formulation but quite dry, I had to go in with quite a few strokes
to get the swatch and even then you can't see much. I expected a sheen from the highlight,
instead it had quite a patchy glittery effect.
As they come in a set, it's a little disappointing to see that.
I'm usually a fan of Kiko's eye makeup.
They formulas are always on point and pigmentation quality is
perfection. They didn't disappoint, the Kiko Metallic Shine Eyeshadow (£6.90) in shade
Mysterious Sapphire is great.
Minimal fall out, lasts well (with primer) and really pigmented. It blends really well with eyeshadow brush
and works well with other shadows as well. The Kiko Colour Definition Eyeliner and Kajal (£5.90) have creamy smooth formula, glides on like silk on the eye and the colours are so intense! I'm completely besotted with the shades Amazon Blue and Emerald Green. Love! I've always loved their eye pencils.
On to lip products, I've previously tried Kiko's Smart Lip Pencil and found
them to be a little dry. So I was
curious to see how the new one performs.
The Kiko Intensely Lavish Lip Pencil (£4.90) is actually much better!
The formula is creamy, but matte.
It really lasts through the day; big thumbs up from me. I tried the shade RED, and will be stocking
up on the other shades!
Last but not least, the Kiko Intensely Lavish Lipstick (£6.90).
The packaging of this is so pretty!
The lipstick comes in six shades, and I have 02 Pretty Mauve. The formulation is really creamy and has a satin finish. If you’ve tried Soap & Glory lipsticks,
these are very comparable to them. The
pigmentation is intense as the name suggests, and the colour is opaque in one
swipe! These are fantastic.
After trying out various products, it feels like a bit of a hit and miss
collection. Some of the products are
fantastic like the lipsticks, lip liners and eye liners; however products like
the contouring pencil set are disappointing.
Perhaps releasing so many collections in a year is taking its toll? Let me know what you think of Kiko’s latest
collection!
