Review | Sephora Cream Lip Stain

If ever there was a hyped product, it has to be this – the Sephora Lip Cream.  I remember the first I heard of it was in Amelia Liana’s video and then it just went crazy.  Every beauty blogger seemed to have one!  Being the red lipstick hoarder that I am, I’ve wanted shade 01 Always Red for forever!  Whenever I adored a red lip colour on a YouTuber, went to see what they wore and it was this – the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in shade 01 Always Red.
Sephora Cream Lip Stain Review - Aspiring Londoner

If you’ve been following me on Twitter (@aspiring_london) or Instagram (@aspiringlondoner), you’ll know I was travelling across Italy in this summer.  Of course, I made a trip to Sephora, and of course I picked up one these bad boys!  I didn’t pick up much else, as the brands available weren’t that different to what we have.  Anyway, so I was bursting with excitement and waiting for an opportunity to sport this amazing red on my lips!  The packaging is quite standard – lipgloss tube with a wand.  The wand is quite standard too.  I do wish the wand was a little more precise.  As the colour is so opaque and sets, there’s basically no room for error.  You have to be super, super careful while applying.  It dries and ‘sets’ almost immediately, this initially made me think the claims of longevity were correct.  I could ‘feel’ the product has set on my lips.  However later, I accidentally brushed my lips with my hand and there was definite transfer.

I wore it on my first day out in Rome when it was about 35 degrees; this bad boy isn’t going to budge, right?  Everybody said so!  Wrong.  It was gone, gone with my lunch.  I was so shocked!   Before that it bled around my mouth, making me look like a four year old who had been playing with mum’s lipstick.  I was so so disappointed.  Because of the extreme heat, I thought it might’ve been a bit much for the poor product.  So I tried it when I got back home, sadly, the results were the same.   The saddest part is despite the poor performance, I still want to wear it as the shade is so striking!  I seem to be the only one who doesn’t love it.  I really did want to, but if a product is supposed to be long lasting and really doesn’t last past a cup of tea, how can you?!  I love the colour and the pigmentation of the product.  I won’t repurchase it, but because I love the colour I will use this one again.
