L’Oreal has always been the drugstore brand for me.
I’ve always gravitated towards their products first, before trying any
other brands. L’Oreal’s True Match
foundation is the only drugstore foundation that gave me a good colour match,
which spurred me on to try more base products from the drugstore. Funnily enough, I’ve never tried much from
their lip range. Except for the new
Infallible Lip Gloss range (swatches here); I haven’t tried their actual
lipsticks. So I was really keen when L'Oreal La Vie en Rose collection exclusive was released.
L’Oreal has previously released similar exclusive
collection of red and nude lipsticks customised to match their
ambassadors. I think this is a great
idea, as we all know not all shades of nude lipsticks are nude for
everyone. Similarly the new exclusive La
Vie En Rose collection i.e. pink lipsticks are suited to the ambassadors
too. I’ve never really thought about
what kind of pink lipsticks suit me.
However just looking through my collection, I’ve always opted for pink
lipsticks with blue undertones. Warmer
pinks doesn’t look good on me, and I’ve obviously subconsciously excluded
them! Anyway, the collection exclusive L’Oreal La Vie En Rose Lipstick (£5.99)
comes in 5 shades. The shades are Eva, a
peachy pink; Liya, a Grenadian pink (exclusive to Superdrug); Blake, an orangey
pink; Naomi, a mauve tea pink and Helen, an iridescent pale nude pink.
Straightaway, I fell in love with Eva’s pink – it was
that muted pink shade that was feminine yet not too girly. The packaging is a really chic with matte
black casing with a gold band in the middle, the spokesperson’s name written in
gold, adds elegance to the packaging.
The formula of the lipsticks are velvety smooth, they glide on so well
on the lips. I love the sheen they give
without looking too glossy. Although the
formula feels smooth, they’re not moisturising and doesn’t keep my lips
moisturised. So definitely wear lip balm
underneath to ensure you don’t end up with dry lips. The lipsticks last around 3 hours before
signs of fading – which is what I’d expect from creamy drugstore
lipsticks. I’m really quite impressed
with the shades and the pigmentation.
Such vibrancy in the colour! I
was really in awe of Blake’s pink, sadly it’s quite warm and looks odd on me,
it’s stunning! Helen's shade is almost an iridescent sheen on me, on its own it doesn't show up - but layered on top of another looks amazing! I've used it as a highlight on my lids and cheekbones too!
Are these must haves? No, but if you love pink lipsticks –
definitely! If you’ve been unsure of
pink lipsticks previously, I’d say definitely try this range out as it has a
wide choice there to cater for various undertones. I’m really enjoying wearing Eva’s pink
lipstick, the muted shade makes it the perfect pink for autumn for me!
