Brows are here to stay guys. Yes, big brows have been here a while and
there’s no sign of them going out of fashion anytime soon. At least this is my excuse to hoard brow
products like no tomorrow. I’ve
previously mentioned how difficult I initially found to find that cool toned
brown to match my dark yet sparse brows.
I’ve mentioned lots of brow products on my Eye Brow 101 posts, and here
are a couple of new releases that is worth noting. Meet Smashbox Brow Tech Matte and Gloss
Pencils.
The Smashbox Brow Tech Matte Pencil (£16.50) is very similar to the MAC brow pencil
I love. The only difference is that the
Smashbox pencil has a spoolie on the other end, making it that bit better. Other than that, the packaging, the mechanism
and even the colour is very similar
to MAC’s brow pencil. It’s a great
colour match for me, the pigmentation is good.
It’s not too pigmented that you have to be light handed, but pigmented
enough. You can really create fine
strokes to mimic brow hair. If I was
going to repurchase a high end brow pencil, this’d be it.
Now, as soon as I heard gloss brow pencil – I immediately
thought what a pointless product. Who or
why would anyone need that?! I tried it
out, but I must say I still don’t like it.
I think it’s supposed to be an alternative to brow mascara. First of all, there’s not much colour pay off
and it doesn’t add anything to my
brows. It makes my brows look shiny and I
suppose sets them. But I don’t like the
finish it gives, it kind of looks like when Ross (from Friends) used to put too
much gel on his hair. I’m just not a fan
of the Smashbox Brow Tech Gloss Pencil (£16.50).
Why are these new releases mention worthy? Because I think the matte pencils are brilliant
dupes for MAC brow pencils, and I’d give the gloss brow pencil trend a miss.
