Christmas + Boxing Day Sales 2016

I don't like shopping just because there are sales.  However there are a few things I needed, that I've saved for the sales season. I thought I'd share some of my picks from the sales that have already started!  Madness!  Remember the days when Boxing Day sales used to actually start ON Boxing Day?!  Anyway let's get started!

Keep checking back as I will be updating as more and more sales start!  Happy Shopping!

Styling A Statement Necklace

A while back Estee Lalonde showed a coin necklace that I was instantly in love with and had to have.  Obviously, it was sold out and I was left disappointed.  I kept searching for something similar but there was nothing like it.  You know when you want something, and you can’t have it and that just makes you want it more? Yeah, that.

Skincare | Makeup Removers

Skincare is my favourite thing.  I may fall out of love with makeup but the lure of serums, oils and the various new ingredients never fail to attract me to skincare.  The reasons behind this are both therapeutic and forward-looking.  Looking after my skin gives me the sense of looking after myself and that much needed 'me time' that is almost impossible to get in our busy lives and the forward-looking aspect being, investing in my skin.  I'd like to look back in 20 years time and thank my younger self for the skin I have.

Review | The Cherry Tree, Jesmond

Couple of weeks ago, my blogging buddy Chloe (New Girl in Toon) invited me along for dinner at The Cherry Tree Restaurant in Jesmond.  We hadn’t seen each other in forever, so it was lovely to catch up!

Savisto 750W 3-in-1 Hand Blender Review

I mentioned in my Downsizing My Life post last week, that I’m trying to minimise things that I own.  On this journey one of the difficult things has been trying to find a balance between the life I want to have and cutting down the things involved in that life.  For example, I enjoy cooking and baking; which also helps me to have healthy eating habits.  However, this means I have various kinds of pots and pans, utensils, and kitchen gadgets.

Travel Diaries | Hong Kong

If you follow me on Instagram (@aspiringlondoner), you know that I was travelling across Asia this summer.  My first destination was Hong Kong, and I instantly fell in love!  It’s an amazing city with a great mix of the old and new.  There are influences from the old China dynasty to the new shiny western Hong Kong.  It can be quite confusing knowing where to go when researching, so I’m going to share my top 5 Hong Kong must-see/do!

Downsizing My Life

A few months ago, I stumbled upon a Ted Talk of ‘The Minimalists’ called ‘A rich life with less stuff’.  It changed my life.  I am not even remotely exaggerating when I say that.  I started to declutter in 2015, although I got rid of a lot of stuff – it wasn’t enough.  I still kept bringing stuff into my home so I never really decluttered.

Budget Skincare Heroes

Skincare is uber expensive these days.  I sometimes cannot believe the prices of some of the products YouTubers talk about!  £40 is no longer considered expensive for a face oil….!  When I drop that kind of dosh on a product, I’d have to starve myself for a while.  Anyway I’ve been trying out some products people have recommended or I’ve seen around the shops to see how they perform.  I’ve found some gems that I think will stop me looking for anything else for quite some time (although being a skincare junkie, it’s hard to be loyal!).

American Afternoon Tea at Karbon Grill

I love food.  Like really love food, so it’s a bit of a weird one that I’ve never blogged about food.  It’s basically one of my favourite thing to do, other than playing around with my makeup!  I was kindly invited by the Karbon Grill at Hilton Garden Inn at Sunderland, to taste their American style afternoon tea.  If there’s food involved, you don’t have to ask me twice!

Smashbox Light It Up Studio Best Sellers Review

Smashbox is one of my favourite makeup brands.  In fact, their photo finish primer was the first primer that actually worked on my oil-slicked skin.  This year, as I was browsing through the Boots Christmas Catalogues (yep, I got it in September...), I saw Smashbox have quite a few sets.  The one that caught my eye in particular was the Smashbox Light It Up Studio Best Sellers (£30).  Let me tell you why...

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel Review

One of the most hyped up products - the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel (£29.50) was a the most talked about cleanser by bloggers/youtubers in the last couple of years.  When a product is talked about that much; I immediately think ‘they’ve been paid to say it’!  I know, I know, how sceptical!  But you can understand my scepticism especially with all the claims of lack of integrity.  I digress.  My curiosity did  get the better of me, and I bought it last Spring.  I’ve just cracked open my second bottle and I thought it was about time, I shared a review with you all.

NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint Review + Swatch

I have been waiting the longest time to get my hands on this - the NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint SPF 30 PA +++ (£30)!  I’ve never properly tried the NARS radiant tinted moisturiser as whenever I tried samples, it left me a little shinier than I would’ve liked, so I never committed to buying the full size.  With my oily complexion, anything velvet/matte instantly gets my attention!  So I ordered it from NARS’ website the first chance I got; I’ve tried it out for a couple of weeks, now I feel like I can tell you what I think.

Personal Challenges For 2016!

It’s been a few years since I’ve written proper new year’s resolution.  However 2015 has been a year of revelations for me like never before.  It spurred me on to think about what I want from my life and how I’m going to achieve my goals.  I want to have real targets with timescales and accountability so I make sure I’m working towards my goals and not just daydreaming about them.
