L'Oreal Infallible Matte Max Lip Colour Review + Swatch

I love a good matte lip.  Whenever I find out about a new matte lip product, I’m just all over it!  Today I bring you the L’Oreal Infallible Matte Max Lip Colours (£6.99) - something a little different from your average matte lipstick.  I’ve been trying them out for a couple of weeks and here are my thoughts!

I have to say, I’m not a fan of the packaging.  It feels quite plastic-ky and a little flimsy.  Not up the standards of usual L’Oreal lipstick packaging.  You have to twist it open and one half is the applicator and the other half has the product inside.  It’s almost like an old style quill pen deal - where you ‘dip’ the foam applicator into the product and apply on to your lips.  It's quite innovative, although I'd recommend wiping the applicator off on a tissue if you're mixing colours and going for the ombre lip.

The formula of the product is quite dry.  With one swipe the colour is applies like a stain and then you can build up to the kind of intensity you want.  The formula layers well so you can make the colour really intense.  Although it wears well through the day, it doesn’t provide any kind of moisture or nourishment to your lips.  So you’d have to wear lip balm underneath and have well exfoliated lips, otherwise it clings to any dry skin on your lips.  However when I’ve applied them on top of my Nuxe lip balm (or any lip balm) they’ve comfortably stayed on through food, drinks and general day to day wear.  Longevity test passed!

I love the shade selection - there’s a good range of pinks and reds, there is one nude shade but I would’ve loved a couple more!

The shades are:

001 Silencio - nude
002 Virgin - pink
004 Oops! I Pink It Again - hot pink
006 Disturbia - orange coral
007 Say My Name - red
008 I Gotta Feeling - purple

So far you must be thinking, gosh these don’t sound so great, but hold up - I have been wearing them a lot despite the drying formula.  Reason being these are excellent at creating that ombre lip effect.  Especially shade 001 applied on top of most pinks just create the most amazing lip colour ever!  So if you want to create play around with your makeup and add something different to your makeup looks - give these a try!  My favourite shades are 001, 002 and 007.  Although the Matte Max Lip Colours haven’t been what I expected, I will absolutely repurchase 001 as I’ve really enjoyed creating ombre lips with it.
