Review | The Cherry Tree, Jesmond

Couple of weeks ago, my blogging buddy Chloe (New Girl in Toon) invited me along for dinner at The Cherry Tree Restaurant in Jesmond.  We hadn’t seen each other in forever, so it was lovely to catch up!

I don’t know Jesmond that well, as I tend to drive to specific places with sat-nav and don’t really explore any further.  We met up in town and too the metro to Jesmond and walked about 10 minutes.

Inside it was spacious, warm and the atmosphere ambient.  The setting was so cosy, it felt like the place you’d like to be at on a winter night.  Tuesday night is live music night, so we picked a good table to enjoy our food and music.  The space is quite big and open with the high ceilings.

We were starving at this point and decided on our food pretty promptly.  We chose from the evening menu and to be honest, I struggled as there were such great options!  I started with Tempura King Prawns.  It was possibly one of the best dishes I’ve ever tasted.  The sauce was incredible with succulent prawns to top it off.  With this tasty starter to whet my appetite, I was eager for my main course – Fillet steak!  I absolutely love steak and I wasn’t disappointed.  It was delicious and truth be told, I was full to the brim after my main!

By this point, the live music had started.  Being honest, it was hard to hold a conversation with the music, but I really enjoyed it.  I imagine regulars know when live music nights are, as the restaurant was pretty much full now.  There was a real cosy, autumnal vibe with the lighting, music and people just bopping along to the music!

As Chloe and I could not stop talking about the steak, we were asked about dessert.  Now how does one say no to dessert?!  So we both ended up ordering the same again, the lemon cheesecake.  To top off the lovely food we’d already devoured, the cheesecake didn’t disappoint.  It was creamy without being too heavy, and what I loved most was that it wasn’t too sweet.  Through the night, I found the service to be excellent, staff were friendly and polite.

I really enjoyed my first experience at The Cherry Tree in Jesmond, and I will definitely be back.  I’ve already raved so much to friends and family about this, I must take them along to experience it!
