After my sporadic blogging phase last year, I was thinking what can get me excited about blogging again. One of the best things about being a beauty blogger is trying out new brands. So that’s exactly what I’m sharing today. I’ve been trying out some brands that are new to me. A mixture of skincare and makeup, I’m mostly excited because there are a few American brands that I’ve been so keen to try out!
Let’s start with skincare – the Fresh Rose Face Mask. The texture of the face mask is that of a light gel. There are real rose petals in the face mask which is quite different. It feels cooling and refreshing on the skin. I love how it leaves my skin feeling hydrated yet feeling fresh at the same time. After a hot day, when you splash your face with cool water – that kind of pleasant refreshed. No heaviness, no stickiness – adore this face mask! It’s a little on the pricey side, but one I’d happily buy as a treat on my birthday or something.
I love a good resurfacing skincare product, as I have some hyperpigmentation. Tropic Good Skin Day Resurfacing Serum was exactly the kind of thing I like. The first thing that interested me was the very plant based ingredients list. However, with any resurfacing, acid skincare product, I would highly recommend tying the product out on a small part of your skin elsewhere. Just to confirm you’re not sensitive to anything. The serum has a liquid consistency and a pleasant fragrance, not strong. It absorbs onto my skin promptly and makes my skin feel super smooth. I’ve been using this for a few weeks and have felt the difference when I touch my skin. It feels smoother and SO much softer. In turn, my foundation looks quite glowy without adding any illuminators.
Now on to the exciting makeup! Milani Cosmetics have been on my ‘to try’ list for years! So I was delighted when I got the opportunity to try them from Just My Look. I tried the Milani Cosmetics Baked Blush in Luminoso and the Milani Amore Matte Lip Cream in Adorable. Both did not disappoint. The baked blush has incredibly pigmented and finely milled powder consistency. The effect is so pretty and glowy! I haven’t put this down since I got my hands on it. The packaging is a little clunky and plasticky, comes with a little brush that I wouldn’t use. But the blush makes up for all of that. Stunning! The Matte Lip Cream in Adorable is a brilliant darker nude on me. I love the colour! Longevity is great, as it stays on though pretty much anything, and is just as easy to get off with an oil-based cleanser. For the price point, it’s a great product, better than the Sephora Lip Creams from my experience!
As soon as I saw this, the highlighter addict in me had to have it – The L.A. Girl USA Strobe Light Strobing Powder! I chose the shade 100 watt as it looked like the champagne gold kind of highlight shade that I love. The packaging is similar to the Milani blush – plasticky and clunky. The highlighter looked so beautiful in the pan! I had hoped it will be dupe for theBalm Mary Lou-manizer, but it’s not. It’s more gold toned and is not as finely milled as Mary Lou. That said, it’s still a pretty great highlighter in its own right. I am impressed that they brought out such a wide range of highlighters. If I were based in US, I’d buy the whole range as their price point is so much more affordable. This is a decent highlighter under £10.
I’m pretty pleased with the new stuff I’ve tried so far in 2017. I’m hoping to keep doing this throughout the year as it really is one of the most exciting things of being a beauty enthusiast! If there is anything new you’ve tried this year, please feel free to let me know.
